THE LATINA SURVIVAL GUIDE
The Latina Survival Guide is Charo Toledo’s debut memoir; an episodic exploration of Puerto Rican girlhood, inherited belief systems, family lore, and the way humor becomes a survival mechanism. Told in binge-worthy moments that move between laughter and reflection, the book invites readers into the ongoing process of self-definition; messy, tender, and fiercely alive.
"With The Latina Survival Guide, Charo Toledo has reinvented the memoir, creating something unique, rich, and distinctly her own... a multitude of incredible tales that are mini movies within themselves, all tied together by a fun and exuberantly innovative conceptual structure."
—Mark Valadez, Producer, Queen of the South
“Vivid, funny, and unforgettable — 1970s Puerto Rico in sequins, cologne, and madness.”
